I had Abarth

Lucky me got to drive an Abarth 500 through the weekend, after dreaming over it for months since it came out. In the time I waited and read the many reviews online, I got more and more excited and began planning how to get my hands on one. I couldn’t afford to just buy one and neither did I want to just test drive for a few hours. So my best bet was to wait until a rental company had it available on their fleet.

It seems I was destined to drive the car, as I almost forgot how badly I wanted to take on out for the weekend, when one Friday my brother called me and said “do you still want an Abarth” and with no hesitation I said “Of course” and got it all booked in and delivered to my door.

At first I had to chuckle to myself, because it was a cute car and almost looked like a little monster with its Scorpion badge and sharp cut alloy wheels. I jumped in and was already in love with its black and red interior and the super cool and a slightly oversized turbo meter sticking out the dashboard. I had driven the regular Fiat 500, so in my head I started comparing them both and so far they had similarities but the Abarth excited me more. Once I started the car, I could hear the lovely rumbling engine noise, which was nothing like the Fiat 500.

Off I went to drive this little beast, unfortunately for me I live in a place full of blood speed humps, so I wasn’t able to put my foot down. So I headed for nearest, flat straight road, which was located with Victoria Park. I first did a little warm up round and then after I was comfortable and nearly sure I didn’t see the “law”, I decided to switch off the traction control and put my foot down, the car roared to about 80miles per hour in seconds and I found that I was already eating up the road quick, so I braked and got a little frightened as so much power kicking out such a small package made the car drag to one side. None the less I loved the rush I got off just that little taster.

I waited till the next day and took the Abarth 500 out onto the M2. All I can say is Wow, it’s amazing how much power the Abarth 500 kicks out and the size meant I could weave in and out the smallest spaces. This was like having a superbike but with doors and 4 seats.

After a weekend of fun with the Abarth 500, I figured that as much as I like the power of this car, it frightened me because of the size. I also noticed it’s a thirsty car and drank a lot of fuel, but then again I did have my foot all the way down on the accelerator most of the time. I would recommend this car, its super fun and you can personalise the car with your own little decals and accessories, for example these Fiat 500 Chrome Mirror Caps.

Brown is the new Black

The last couple of years saw a rise in cars being released in white. It’s a cool colour but it’s starting to get boring. So it’s good news to see that 2010 seems to be bringing new hues into the market; the most popular seems to be shades of Brown. As always fashion trends always go full circle, so seeing brown cars reminds me of my dad’s car back when I was just 8 years old, he use to drive a chocolate brown Ford Escort. As I got older I remember joy riding around in a brown Mini Metro, luckily I never got caught. The first brown car I saw was the Audi R8 Spyder, which looked amazing. As more cars got released with the new 10 registration plate it seems it’s the new trend and Brown has become the new black. My favourite new car in brown is the Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet, followed closely by the Audi R8 Spyder. I’ve even seen an Audi A3 in a really dark brown colour which I loved. The most affordable brown car I would go for would be the Citroen DS3; I should p...

Kent Zoo, Best Tourism Experience in England

I’ve never bothered going to London Zoo, as I don’t like the idea of going to see animals from the wild in middle of a concrete city. My first ever trip to the Zoo was a drive up North, to one of London Zoo’s partners, Whipsnade Zoo which is near Luton. Even though it was a little less city like, I absolutely loved my time there and since have been planning to go back. Until now...I recently discovered Port Lympne, which is a Kent Zoo that’s actually closer to London then Luton and it’s based in the Garden of England, Kent! Port Lympne is more of a Wild Life Park in Kent and has a wonderful mixture of animals from all over the world. The park is run by the Aspinall Foundation a charity which does a wonderful job of looking after endangered species such as the Bengal Tiger and Black Rhino . There’s animal there I’ve never even heard of, which makes it more exciting to go visit this brilliant wild life park. Recently Port Lympne has been voted England’s best touri...

Wacky Alternative Political Party’s

If you’re like me and your fed up of voting for the same three useless political parties in the UK who seem to be only there for their own benefit and for no benefit whatsoever of the public that blindly vote for them. Then here are some alternative political parties in the UK you could try out. My first suggestion is the well known Official Monster Raving Loony Party . Their leader is Alan “Howlin Laud” Hope. They’ve been around since 1963 and in 2008 they have a very succesfull candidate by the name of Mad Cow Girl, who bought in 412 votes. Here’s some of the party’s manifesto for 2010. - Add the Loch Ness Monster to the endangered species list - A 99p coin, which will help save on change. - Make it illegal for superheroes to use their powers for evil My next choice is the Pirate Party , which was formed only last year. They are apparently the party for the 21 st century. Their main aims are toward reforming copyright and patent ...
