Midlife Crisis Cars for Environmentalists

The futures an exciting place, especially in the automotive world. The evolution of cars has been a fascinating one. Most recently we’ve seen the growing trend of Hybrid vehicles. Although the first set of Hybrid cars that came out and are still in production are ugly, they are evolving and we are seeing more creative hybrid cars and even better we’ve got supercar makers now experimenting hybrid technology. I’ve done a small list of hybrid super cars that I think will be popular in the near future. Some are still on the drawing board, some may be rumours and concepts merely to show case the technology. Ferrari 599 Hybrid This is also known as the Ferrari 599 HY-KERS, it has green technology which had been engineered by Ferrari’s Formula1 racing car team. The car comes with its regular 6.0 litre V12 engine and a 2cm thin lithium-ion battery which gives the existing 620bhp engine an extra 100bhp, giving it a total of 720bhp enabling it to do 0- 124mph in an eye wateri

Mmmm Maybach Coupe

I’ve always seen the Maybach as an over-rated Mercedes. Even with its amazing luxury interior, modern technology and such extras as the assist button which can be used at anytime to get help finding the closest Italian Restaurant or whatever you may be looking for. I prefer the Bentley Arnage or Rolls Royce Phantom when it comes to looks. But these are cars you don’t buy to drive; you buy them to get driven around in. Personally I’d rather be in the driver’s seat and definitely not to drive someone around, I don’t think they’ll enjoy the luxuries at the speeds I plan to drive. This brings me to the new Maybach Coupe. At first glance I thought wow; this is the most attractive Maybach I’ve ever seen. Researching further I realised that this is actually a regular Maybach 57 which is being modified by a company called Xanatec with approval from Mercedes Maybach. The car looks a lot like a stretched out version of a Bentley Continental. But unlike the Bentley which h

Cheeky Convertible Summer

If the rain eventually decides to leave the UK, we might see summer slowly creeping up. As we don’t know how long it’s going to hang around, we might as well see what affordable convertibles we can zoom around in to make the most of the warmish British summer. There are loads of convertibles out there these days, but I was thinking more towards something with a bit of character. The first car that came to mind is the New Fiat 500C. I’ve had the pleasure of driving the standard Fiat 500 and for a tiny car it’s very rapid and definitely has heads turning. Also when it comes to the Fiat 500, there’s a wide range of customised models you can get. So you can show off your own character through your car. Personally I like the Abarth 500C, the idea of cool little car packed with power is quiet exciting. I’d recommend checking out the Fiat 500 at Fiat Sunderland dealership. Another little car with a lot of personality is the Daihatsu Copen Roadster. It’s a not see th

Brown is the new Black

The last couple of years saw a rise in cars being released in white. It’s a cool colour but it’s starting to get boring. So it’s good news to see that 2010 seems to be bringing new hues into the market; the most popular seems to be shades of Brown. As always fashion trends always go full circle, so seeing brown cars reminds me of my dad’s car back when I was just 8 years old, he use to drive a chocolate brown Ford Escort. As I got older I remember joy riding around in a brown Mini Metro, luckily I never got caught. The first brown car I saw was the Audi R8 Spyder, which looked amazing. As more cars got released with the new 10 registration plate it seems it’s the new trend and Brown has become the new black. My favourite new car in brown is the Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet, followed closely by the Audi R8 Spyder. I’ve even seen an Audi A3 in a really dark brown colour which I loved. The most affordable brown car I would go for would be the Citroen DS3; I should p
